The Central Ontario Region of Pony Club will hold its Regional Dressage Finals at Killusty Farms near Fenelon Falls on Sunday, July 15, hosted by the Victoria Pony Club.
To enter the Regional Finals, a competitor must have achieved a score of at least 55% in at least one of the previous two qualifiers at each level of entry. Others may enter the same classes and divisions on an open entry basis, and will be scored, but their scores will not count towards the Regional final standings.
This show will also be the third of three Qualifiers for the Central Canadian Zone Dressage Championships. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores at these meet and one of the other qualifiers hosted by the Pause Awhile and Maple Pony Clubs on June 24 and by the Toronto & North York Pony Club on May 27. This year, the Central Canadian Zone Championships are being hosted by the St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Region August 18-19.
Dressage is an Olympic sport, in which Canada's best showing was a Team bronze medal in 1988. Three of the four members of that team were Pony Club graduates, and this show may very well feature members of the 2008 or 2012 Canadian Equestrian Team.
Competition is tentatively scheduled to start at 9:00 am. Killusty Farms are Northeast of Fenelon Falls on Hyper Line, east off Burys Green Road. Spectators are welcome without charge.
