Here are highlight placings at the Central Ontario Regional dressage finals, held on Sunday, July 15, hosted by the Victoria Pony Club. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and other qualifiers hosted by the Toronto & North York Pony Club on May 27, and by the Maple and Pause Awhile Pony Clubs on June 24. This year, the Central Canadian Zone Championships are being hosted by the St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Region August 18-19. Details follow the highlights.
HIGHLIGHTS
At the Beginner 1-2 level, Samantha Quinn-Steinberg of the Maple Pony Club was Division Champion aboard Let's Go Cowboy. There was no Reserve Champion in this division.
Lauren Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club was Beginner 2-3 Champion riding Mr. Tuff Stuff, with the Reserve position going to Kaley Fountain, also of Victoria, on Thunder.
The Beginner 3/Basic 1 Champion was Jordan Thompson of the Durham Pony Club riding Brave Heart. In Reserve was Sarah Kift of the Oshawa Pony Club on Rebecca.
In the Basic 1-2 division, Casey Barton of the Victoria Pony Club was Champion on Jim Dandy, and Jessie Barrieau of Victoria Reserve on Alfie.
At the Basic 2-3 level, Larissa Grabowski of the Durham Pony Club was Champion riding Full Monty (no Reserve).
The Basic 3-4 Champion was Megan Mattos of the Kawartha Pony Club riding Mayhem (no Reserve).
Sarah Rae of the Victoria Pony Club was the Basic 4/Medium 1 Champion riding Gentle Ben, with her sister Jenny Rae the Reserve on Avalon; this pair achieved the same results in the Basic 4 Kur.
Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club won the Novice Kur Championship on D'Artagnan , with Jordan Thompson the Reserve.
Victoria completed its domination by placing 1-2 in the team competition, with Durham third and a combined Oshawa/Toronto & North York team fourth.
