Here are the placings at the first Central Ontario Region of Pony Club dressage qualifier for the Central Canadian Zone Dressage Championships, held on Sunday, April 27, jointly hosted by the Kawartha Pony Club and the Kawartha Lakes Dressage Association (KLDA). Several classes had both Pony Club members and non-members competing. We understand that results for KLDA members will be posted to its website, www.geocities.com/kawartha_lakes_dressage/. Selection for the Central Ontario Dressage team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and other qualifiers hosted by the Toronto & North York Pony Club on June 1, and by the Victoria Pony Club on July 13. This year, the Central Canadian Zone Championships are being hosted by the Central Ontario Region at the Ontario's Pony Clubs Tournament of Champions August 15-17.
Note also that, for 2003, Dressage Canada has moved to the U.S. system of tests, which are different from those used in previous years. International level tests remain the same, but are not usually offered at Pony Club dressage competitions. These results are shown from most to least difficult. In dressage, each competitor normally rides in two classes which are consecutive in difficulty.
Here are highlight results. Details follow.
At the highest level for this show, Third Level Test 2, the winner was Jenny Rae of the Victoria Pony Club riding Avalon. This pair also won the Third Level Test 1 class.
There were no Pony Club competitors in the Second Level Test 2 class, but Daina Brown of the Kawartha Pony Club won the Second Level Test 1 class riding Moon Walker.
First Level Test 4 results were combined for both organizations but divided into Junior and Open sections. the Junior section was won by Katie Murray of the Durham Pony Club on Jamane, with Megan Mattos of the new Waussnodae Pony Club second aboard Freddy the Freak and Daina Brown third.
First Level Test 3 was run in the same way, with Pony Club members taking the top two spots in the Junior section. Megan Mattos of Waussnodae won, with Katie Murray finishing second.
First Level Test 2 Pony Club members took the first three places in the Junior section of the class, with Kylie Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club won on Let's Rhumba. Second place went to Julie Pett, another member of the Victoria Pony Club, riding Living Legacy. Kendal Lehari of the Toronto & North York Pony Club riding She's All That took third.
First Level Test 1 was scored separately for Pony Club and KLDA members. Among the Pony Club members, Kylie Pinder again finished first, with second place going to Kendal Lehari and She's All That, and third place to Rebecca Olscher of the Waussnodae Pony Club, riding Miskanada.
Both Training Level Tests were split three ways - Open, Junior and Pony Club sections. In the Pony Club section of Test 2, Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club took top honours aboard Colwyn Tegan, and her sister Johanna McKeen placed second with Millgate Braveheart. Third place went to Kaley Fountain of the Victoria Pony Club riding Thunder. Pony Club members also did well in the Junior section of this class, with Erin Blakeley of the Kawartha Pony Club taking first place on Thunder Wings. Another Kawartha Pony Club member, Carolyn Maskens, came third riding Blackwynd Jezam.
In the Training Level Test 1 Class, the Pony Club section was won by Johanna McKeen, with Mori Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second riding Aragorn. Sarah Conboy of the Oshawa Pony Club placed third in this section riding Doshavita. Members of the Kawartha Pony Club also took the two top spots in the Junior section of this class; Carolyn Maskens placed first, and second place went to Michaela Brown on Star Dust.
The Pre-Training, Starter and Entry Divisions all used Canadian Pony Club tests and all entries were Pony Club members.
The Pre-Training Test 2 class was won by Jessie Ball of the Victoria Pony Club, riding Coronas Kiowa "Ki." Second place went to Jenny Fulton of the Baltimore Hills Pony Club, aboard Whirlabout. In third place was Samantha MacDonald of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club, on Murphy.
In the Pre-Training Level Test 1 class, Lauren Pinder of the Victoria Pony Club took top honours on Rebecca, with Jessie Ball second. Third place went to Christina Chamney of the Maple Pony Club riding My Turn.
Christine Oldridge of the Victoria Pony Club won the Starter Level Test 2 riding Snow Pony Jack Pine. Second Place went to Andrea McGill of the Durham Pony Club, on Phoenix Rising, with Kylie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club third on Baltimore.
These three riders finished in the same order in the Starter Level Test 1 class.
In the Entry Level Test 2 class, the winner was Jenna Scott of the Durham Pony Club riding Fiddle Sticks. In second place was Sydney Barton of the Victoria Pony Club riding Maple, with Jane Stephenson of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club third aboard Missy.
Sydney Barton won the Entry Level Test 1, with Jenna Scott second and Jane Stephenson again third.
This show offered two freestyle classes, which feature dressage performed to music. Both were Pony Club classes.
In the Training Freestyle class, the winner was Johanna McKeen, with her sister Jennifer taking second spot and Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club third riding D'Artagnon.
Andrea McGill won the Starter Freestyle class, with second place going to Jessie Ball.

Third Level Division
Jenny Rae of the Victoria Pony Club was the only Pony Club member entered and won both the Test 1 and Test 2 classes riding Avalon.
Second Level Division
There were no Pony Club members entered in the Second Level Test 2 class. Daina Brown of the Kawartha Pony Club was the only Pony Club member who entered the Second Level Test 1 class, and she placed first riding Moon Walker.
