Here are highlight results from the Central Ontario Regional Show Jumping Finals, held on August 22 at Audley Road Stables near Ajax. Details follow the highlights.
In this show, three divisions of Pre-Entry level riders competed in two classes each, both single round plus jump-off, plus a warm-up round. The higher divisions competed in three classes each, two single round plus jump-off classes and one speed class, to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division.
Pre-Entry Division A-1
In Class1, first place went to Jane Stephenson of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club, riding Missy. Alexandra Reynolds of the Kawartha Pony Club took second place on She's Like the Wind, and Kylie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club was third on Go for Cool. Ms Stephenson was also first in Class 2, with James Cruikshanks, another Uxbridge-Scugog rider, second on Target. Alexandra Reynolds took third. Champion was Jane Stephenson, Reserve was Alexandra Reynolds.
Pre-Entry Division A-2
Jennifer Shumilak of the Ajax Pony Club won Class 1 aboard Morgana, with William Dow of the Pine Ridge Pony Club second on Ava. Third place went to Kaitlin Devoe, another Ajax rider, aboard Van Gogh. In Class 2, Kaitlin Devoe and Van Gogh took the top spot, with yet another Ajax entry, Paige Shumilak on Montigo Bay second, and Stephanie Thoms of the Brooklin Pony Club third riding Honey Be Sweet. Kaitlin Devoe was Champion with Jennifer Shumilak the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
In Class 1, Alexandra Kelly of the Victoria Pony Club took first riding Black Hat, with Lindsay Devoe of Ajax second on Trigger Appy, and another Ajax rider, Kristi Abe, third on Sock It To Me. Ajax riders took the three top spots in Class 2, with Amanda Bell first on Silverado, Holly McGill second on Champagne Cocktail and Kristi Abe again third. Holly McGill was Champion and Kristi Abe was Reserve.
Entry Division
Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club took first place in Class 1 riding Mya, with Sean Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second riding Cennabar and Kiri Ipsen of the Ajax Pony Club third on Spice of Life. Johanna McKeen and Mya also won Class 2, with second place going to Sam Elsenaar of the Ajax Pony Club riding Cadbury, and Kayla Neil of the Durham Pony Club third with Cruiser. Johanna McKeen and Mya completed their sweep of the Entry Division by winning Class 3, with Jenna Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club second riding Sky Scraper, and Sam Elsenaar and Cadbury third. Johanna McKeen was the Champion and Kiri Ipsen the Reserve.
Starter Division
In Class 1, the winner was Dawn O'Neill of the Ajax Pony Club riding Natasha, with Aly Stalk of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second on High Roller, and third place going to Andrea McGill of the Durham Pony Club aboard Phoenix Rising. Whitney Brennan of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club won Class 2 on Karoo, with Erica Belanger of Ajax second on Rainbow Connection, and Andrea McGill again third. Katelyn Powell of the Durham Pony Club won Class 3 riding Sundance, with Dawn O'Neill and Natasha second, and Erica Belanger and Rainbow Connection third. Dawn O'Neill was the Champion with Erica Belanger in Reserve.
Beginner Division
Jessie McVittie of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club won Class 1 riding Rubik's Cube. Another Uxbridge-Scugog rider, Samantha MacDonald, was second riding Heart of Gold. Third place went to Sarah McBride of the Victoria Pony Club on Little Bob Dodger. Samantha MacDonald and Heart of Gold won Class 2, with Jessie McVittie and Rubik's Cube second this time, and Mori Cruikshanks of Uxbridge-Scugog third on Aragorn. Ms McVittie won Class 3 as well, with Samantha MacDonald second and Mori Cruikshanks third. Jessie McVittie was Champion, with Samantha MacDonald the Reserve.
Novice Division
Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club was the only entry, riding D'Artagnan. She won all three classes and was declared Division Champion.
Intermediate Division
Katie Murray of the Durham Pony Club won Class 1 riding Jamane, with Megan Mattos of the Waussnodae Pony Club second riding Sing Freely.. In Class 2 Megan Mattos won with Katie Murray second, and the order of finish in Class 3 was the same as in Class 1. Katie Murray was the Champion and Megan Mattos the Reserve.
