The Central Ontario Region of Canadian Pony Club today announced the names of those who have qualified to represent the Region in the Central Canada Zone Show Jumping and Dressage Championships. These youngsters qualified for their spots on the team at a series of "Qualifier" shows held over the past four months. Central Ontario's riders will compete against entries from the Western Ontario and Saint Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions. This year, the Central Canada Zone Championships are being hosted by the Saint Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Region at Hawkridge Farm near Kingston, on August 28 and 29.

Show Jumping

In the Entry Division, Central Ontario will be represented by Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club riding Mya, Sean Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club riding Cennabar, Katie Hoppe of the Brooklin Pony Club riding Beaverwoods Larkspur, and Jenna Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club riding Sky Scraper.

Only two Starter Division riders have been selected: Katelyn Powell of the Durham Pony Club riding Sundance, and Dawn O'Neill of the Ajax Pony Club riding Natasha.

Five Beginner Division riders were named, four from the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club: Andrea Edwards riding Alcatraz, Jessica McVittie riding Rubik's Cube, Samantha MacDonald riding Heart of Gold, and Mori Cruikshanks riding Aragorn, along with D'Arcy Hutcheson of the Centaurus Pony Club riding Irish Park's Fair Erin.

The only Intermediate Division rider named to the team was Megan Mattos of the Waussnodae Pony Club riding Sing Freely.

Dressage

In the Pre-Training Division, Central Ontario will be represented by Madison Wilks of the Durham Pony Club riding Mega Cool and Rachel Welsh of the Oshawa Pony Club riding Pippi.

Jennifer McKeen and Colwyn Tegan of the Oshawa Pony Club will carry the Region's colours in the Training Division.

At the Starter Division level, Central Ontario has selected Erin Thompson of the Oshawa Pony Club riding Everyone Loves Lily.

Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club will represent the Region at the First Level, riding Millgate Braveheart.  Ms. McKeen is the only Central Ontario member to be named to both the show jumping and dressage teams.
