Here are highlight results for the Central Ontario Regional Dressage Finals, plus a third qualifier. This competition took place on Saturday, August 12 at Chance Stables, near Bowmanville, Ontario. Those who used the show as a third qualifier also had their scores used in the Regional Finals. Complete results follow the highlights
Regional Finals
The highest level in this show was Second Level, with Tests 3 and 4 being used. Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club rode Millgate Braveheart to first place finishes in both Second Level Tests, with Megan Mattos of the Waussnodae Pony Club taking second spot in both classes on Freddy the Freak. Ms McKeen was the only entry in the Second Level Freestyle class, and took first place riding "against the book." Ms McKeen was Second Level Champion and Ms Mattos was the Reserve.
In the First Level A competition, the order of finish was the same for both Test 1 and Test 2. The winner and Division Champion was Madison Wilks of the Durham Pony Club riding Mega Cool. Second place and Division Reserve went to Christy Chamney of the Maple Pony Club on My Turn. In the First Level B competition, Kayla Neil of the Durham Pony Club was the only competitor on Adara; her scores were good enough for third place in Test 3 and second place in Test 4, and of course she was the Division Champion.
In the Training Division, D'Arcy Hutcheson of the Centaurus Pony Club won the Test 3 class on Bundle, with Jenna Scott of the Durham Pony Club second on Timbit and Emily Boyce of the Maple Pony Club third on Something From Nothing. In the Test 4 class, the winner was Carolyn Russell-Poliquin of the Oshawa Pony Club on Cornucopia, with Ms Hutcheson second and Ms Boyce third. Ms Hutcheson was Training Division Champion with Ms Russell-Poliquin the Reserve.
Jennifer Pett of the Victoria Pony Club won the Pre-Training Test 1 Class on Thunder, with Nikki Ince of the King Pony Club second on Maximus and Justine Blocksdorf of the Simcoe Pony Club third on Brandee. In Pre-Training Test 2, the winner was Ms Blocksdorf, with Maya Kenedy of the Maple Pony Club second on Napoleon Brandy and Ms Pett third. The Pre-Training champion was Ms Pett, with Ms Blocksdorf the Reserve.
In the Starter Division, the Test 1 class was won by Alycia McCracken of the Simcoe Pony Club riding Mr. Handsome. Second place went to Jane Stephenson of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club aboard Ladybug, and Riikka Kojola of the Maple Pony Club was third on Masquerade. In Test 2, the winner was Ms Stephenson, with Janene Howran of the Kawartha Pony Club second riding Zia's Tattered Lace and Ms Kojola third. Ms Stephenson was Starter Division Champion with Ms McCracken the Reserve. Emily Banks-Ng of the King Pony Club won the Starter Freestyle on Brandy, with second place going to Ms Howran, and third place to Emma Pasianotto of King riding Curious Jordan. The Starter Pas de Deux was won by a team comprising Nikki Ince on Maximus and Maddy Lang, also of King, riding Fat Chance.
Sarah Smith of the Maple Pony Club won the Entry Division Test 1 on Ceulan Copper Bracken, with second place going to Wesley Stubbings of the Simcoe Pony Club riding Lucky Bag Pipes. Megan Pagniello of the King Pony Club placed third on Summit. In Test 2, the winner was Ms Pasianotto and Curious Jordan, with Ms Smith second and Ms Banks-Ng third. Ms Smith was Entry Champion with Ms Pasianotto the Reserve
Qualifier
Megan Mattos was the only Second Level entry, riding Freddy the Freak. This time her scores were good enough for fourth in both Test 3 and Test 4.
Christy Chamney and My Turn placed were the only entry in First Level Test 1 and placed second, riding "against the book". There were no entries at this level in the Qualifier.
Carolyn Russell-Poliquin and Cornucopia won both the Training Level Test 3 and Test 4 classes. Second place in Test 3 went to Jane Little of the Arête de Chêne Pony Club on Spanish Velvet Lace, with Lauren Bridle of the Waussnodae Pony Club third riding Nick. In Test 4, Ms Bridle was second and Alyssa Stavrakos of the Durham Pony Club was third riding Alyssa's Lincoln.
In the Pre-Training Division, Carrie Doorenspleet of the Durham Pony Club won Test 1 aboard Gold Rush Frontier, with Ms Blocksdorf and Brandee second, and Hilary Howran of the Kawartha Pony Club third riding Mackeeba. In Test 2, Ms Doorenspleet again took the honours, with Ms Howran second and Ms Ince third.
In the Starter Test 1 class, there was a rare tie for first place between Jane Stephenson of Uxbridge-Scugog riding Merrylegs and Maxime Weiss of the King Pony Club riding Black Velvet, with Christy Chamney third, this time riding Neo Royo. In the Starter Test 2 competition, Ms Stephenson again finished first, with Janene Howran and Zia's Tattered Lace second, and third place going to Maddy Lang and The Flying Finn.
Ms Weiss and Black Velvet won the Entry Level Test 1 class in the Qualifier, with second place going to Ms Pagniello and Summit, and third to Ms Banks-Ng and Brandy. In Test 2, Ms Weiss finished first, Ms Banks-Ng second and Ms Pagniello third.
