Here are the results from the final Central Ontario Region Qualifier for the Central Canadian Zone Show Jumping Championships, held on Sunday, July 31, at Springfield Farm near Brooklin, hosted by the Brooklin Pony Club. Selection for the Central Ontario Show Jumping team, which will compete against teams from the Western Ontario and St. Lawrence-Ottawa Valley Regions, will be based on scores achieved at this meet and three other qualifiers, hosted by the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club on May 29, by the Centaurus Pony Club on June 19 and by the Ajax Pony Club on July 14. This year, the Central Canada Zone Championships are being hosted by the Western Ontario Region on August 20-21.
In this show, three divisions of Pre-Entry riders competed in two classes each, a medal class judged on equitation, both over fences and at various gaits on the flat, and a single round plus jump-off, plus a warm-up round. Pre-Entry riders do not qualify for the Central Canadian Championships. The higher divisions competed in three classes each, a medal class, a single round plus jump-off and a speed class, to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division. Highlights follow, with results to tenth place in each class after that. Unfortunately, horse and pony names are not available.
Pre-Entry Division A-1
In Class1, the medal class, first place went to Lindsay Tucker of the Ajax Pony Club. Kylie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club was second, with Alexandra Reynolds of the Kawartha Pony Club third. Kylie Figueira won Class 2, the single round plus jump-off, with Alexandra Reynolds second and all other competitors eliminated. Champion was Kylie Figueira, Reserve was Alexandra Reynolds.
Pre-Entry Division A-2
Ajax Pony Club riders swept the first three places in both classes. Angie Moorecroft took the honours in the medal class, Jessica Clarke was second and Kady Paterson was third. Sarah McDonnell won Class 2, the single round with jump-off, with Angie Moorecroft second and Kady Paterson again taking third. Angie Moorecroft was the Division Champion, with Sarah McDonnell the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
In Class 1, the winner was Emma Lemay Nedjelski of the Ajax Pony Club. Second place went to Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club, with Jessica McDonnell of the Ajax Pony Club third. Jennifer McKeen won Class 2, with Brynn Jobb of the Brooklin Pony Club second, and James Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club third. Champion was Jennifer McKeen, Reserve was Emma Lemay Nedjelski.
Entry Division (First Qualifying Level)
Emily Lindsay of the Simcoe Pony Club took first place in the medal class, with Carolyn Russell-Poliquin of the Oshawa Pony Club second and Lauren Kelly of the Victoria Pony Club third. In Class 2, the single round with jump-off, Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club was the winner, with Lauren Kelly second and Rachel Goodman of the Whitchurch Pony Club third. Jennifer McKeen won the speed class, with second spot going to Lauren Kelly and third to Lindsay Beer of the Centaurus Pony Club. Lauren Kelly and Jennifer McKeen finished in a tie for the Division Championship.
Starter Division
In the medal class, the winner was Hanna Bailey of the Victoria Pony Club. Stephanie Crawford of the Pickering Pony Club was second and third place went to Sean Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club. Sean Cruikshanks won Class 2, the single round with jump-off, with Hanna Bailey second and Ilona Parenteau of the Toronto & North York Pony Club third. Kate Hoppe of the Brooklin Pony Club won Class 3, the speed class, with second place again going to Hanna Bailey, and William Dow of the Pine Ridge Pony Club third. Champion was Hanna Bailey, Reserve was Kate Hoppe.
Beginner Division
Jenna Patterson of the Pine Ridge Pony Club took first place in the medal class, with Katelyn Powell of the Durham Pony Club second and another Durham rider, Andrea McGill, third. In Class 2, Katelyn Powell was the winner, with Mori Cruikshanks of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club second, and Andrea McGill again third. Mori Cruikshanks took the honours in Class 3, with Jenna Patterson second, and Alexandra Kelly of the Victoria Pony Club third. Champion was Mori Cruikshanks, Reserve was Katelyn Powell.
Novice Division
There was only one entry in the Novice Division at this show, Maddie Baker of the Toronto & North York Pony Club. She was placed first in the medal class and the single round with jump-off, but was eliminated in the speed class. Under Canadian Pony Club rules, no Champion is declared in these circumstances unless the lone entry completes at least three classes without being eliminated.
Intermediate Division
There was only one entry in the Intermediate Division, Julia McGill of the Durham Pony Club. She placed first in the Medal class but was eliminated in the others.
