Here are results from the first Central Ontario Region Qualifier for the Regional Show Jumping Finals, held on Sunday, May 27 at Dreamcrest Equestrian Centre near Port Perry, hosted by the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club. Selection for the Regional Finals will be based on scores achieved at this meet and two other qualifiers, both to be hosted by the Ajax Pony Club.
In this show, four divisions of Pre-Entry riders competed in two classes each: a single round plus jump-off class, and a medal class judged on equitation both over fences and at various gaits on the flat. The higher divisions competed in three classes each, a single round plus jump-off class, a power and speed class and a medal class to determine a Champion and a Reserve in each division. Highlights follow, with results to tenth place in each class following.
Pre-Entry Division A-1
This Division drew only one entry, Colin Oldridge of the Victoria Pony Club on Snow Pony Jack Pine. He successfully completed both classes and was declared Division Champion. (Cold and wet conditions led several entries to withdraw at various levels.)
Pre-Entry Division A-2
In the single round with jump-off class, the winner was Amy Westlund of the Rising Star Pony Club, riding JP. Second place went to another Rising Star entry, Lindsay Weber on Easter Bunny, and Kayla Weber completed a Rising Star sweep by taking third place on Dad's Fancy Prince. Lindsay Weber won the medal class, with Megan O'Hara of the Maple Pony Club second riding Christian, and Kayla Weber again third. Lindsay Weber was the Division Champion, with Amy Westlund the Reserve.
Pre-Entry Division B
In Class 1, the single round with jump-off, Jamie Kellock of the Whitchurch Pony Club took the honours on Callie, with S.M. of the Maple Pony Club second on Christian, and Stacy Bootsma of Rising Star third aboard Reese's Pieces. Shay Lucas of the Maple Pony Club won Class 2, the medal class, on Dillon, with S.M.again second and Samantha Morandin of Maple third on Spook. Champion was Jamie Kellock, Reserve was Shay Lucas.
Pre-Entry Schooling Division
The single round with jump-off class was won by Johanna McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club riding Millie. Christine Oldridge of the Victoria Pony Club took second on Air Express, with Jane Stephenson of Uxbridge-Scugog third aboard Brenrey Eli. In the medal class, Johanna McKeen again took top spot, with Jane Stephenson second and Christine Oldridge third. Ms McKeen was Champion, with Ms Oldridge the Reserve.
Entry Division (First Qualifying Level)
Janene Howran of the Kawartha Pony Club took first place in the single round with jump-off class riding Zia's Tattered Lace, with Emily Lindsay of the Rising Star Pony Club second on Tarragon and Pat Kosa of the Whitchurch Pony Club third on Milo. In Class 2, the power and speed class, Emily Lindsay was the winner, with Hanna Bundy of the Whitchurch Pony Club second riding Grover, and Kassandra Sloan of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Royal China. Kylie Figueira of the Victoria Pony Club won the medal class aboard That's So Raven, with second spot going to Chelsea Geer of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club on Tequila Sunrise, and third to Jennifer Pett of Victoria on Thunder. Champion was Emily Lindsay, and Reserve was Hanna Bundy.
Starter Division
In the single round with jump-off class, the winner was Madison Wilks of the Durham Pony Club on Mega Cool. Karen Foell of the Toronto & North York Pony Club was second riding Delicately Refined, and third place went to Nikki Ince of the King Pony Club on Maximus. Ms Ince won Class 2, the power and speed class, with Ms Foell again second, and Emily White-Williams of the Maple Pony Club third on Flubber Bunny. Ms Ince also won Class 3, the medal class, with second place going to Ms Foell and third to Karly Coles of the Brooklin Pony Club riding Rocky. Champion was Nikki Ince, Reserve was Karen Foell.
Beginner Division
Alexandra Reynolds of the Kawartha Pony Club took first place in the single round with jump-off class riding She's Like the Wind, with Emily Elliott of the Centaurus Pony Club second on Finnegan and Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Mya. In Class 2, the power and speed class, Ms Elliott was the winner, with Mitchell Hall of the Uxbridge-Scugog Pony Club taking second spot on Prospect's Ebony, and Ms McKeen third. Ms McKeen also took the honours in Class 3, the medal class, with another Oshawa entry, Stephanie Rutherford, second riding Jester, and Mr. Hall third. Champion was Jennifer McKeen, Reserve was Emily Elliott.
Novice Division
Stephanie Crawford of the Durham Pony Club took the honours in the single round with jump-off class aboard Black Edition, with another Durham rider, Andrea McGill, second riding Phoenix Rising and Kataryna Sloan of the Oshawa Pony Club third on Midnight Magic. In the power and speed class, Ms Crawford was again first, Jenny Isaacs of the Maple Pony Club was second on That Kinda Girl and Ms McGill was third. Ms Isaacs finished first in the medal class, with Rebecca Adrian of the Kawartha Pony Club second on Narhan's Gift and Ms McGill again third. Champion was Stephanie Crawford, Reserve was Andrea McGill.
Intermediate Division
Lindsay Beer of the Maple Pony Club won the single round with jump-off class riding June Bug, with Jazmyne Wooley of the Centaurus Pony Club second on Bits & Pieces. Bad conditions led the rest of the original Intermediate entries to withdraw. Ms Wooley won the power and speed class, with Ms Beer unable to finish. Ms. Beer won the medal class with Ms Wooley second. Champion was Lindsay Beer, Reserve was Jazmyne Wooley.
