Here are highlight placings at the first Central Ontario Region of Pony Club dressage qualifier for the regional dressage finals, held Sunday, June 27 at Elgin Park in Uxbridge, hosted by the King Pony Club. Placings to sixth in classes/divisions with more than one competitor follow the highlights.
Due to scratches and withdrawals, each of the five First Level classes and the Training class had only one competitor. In such circumstances, the rules specify placings based on the percentage of available marks won. All scores were high enough for the riders to finish first, but when there is only one competitor no champion is declared. Alexandra Sprague of the Kawartha Pony Club won the First Level A Test 1, Test 2 and Freestyle classes riding Come As You Are. Meaghan Lloyd of the Durham Pony Club won the First Level B Test 3 and Test 4 classes on Cab Fare. And Kyra Holmes of the Maple Pony Club won the Training Test 2 class on Heart and Soul.
The Pre-Training champion was Jennifer McKeen of the Oshawa Pony Club on Regal's Inferno. Janel Semple of the Kawartha Pony Club was the reserve aboard Lucky Penny.
Emma Pasianotto of the King Pony Club was the Starter Division champion riding Amadeo, and Cassandra Henderson, also of the King Pony Club, was the reserve on Maximus.
The Entry champion was Lily Solomon of the Toronto & North York Pony Club riding Tango, with Katie McCoy-Bridges, also of Toronto & North York, the reserve on Licorice. Ms Solomon, seven years old, won both her classes but reportedly disclosed that she would rather have finished second in Class 2 because she already had a red ribbon and really wanted a blue one to go with it. Seven is a sweet age.
