Nova Scotia Regional Pony Club
2nd Annual 'Dressage-Is-Fun' Show
The second annual Dressage-Is-Fun Show was held on August 25 at the CNHP Grounds in Salmon River. 32 riders
from six branches competed in divisions ranging from Novice (walk/trot) to Basic 2 in the morning, and then did
kurs, costume-kurs, pas-de-deux and quadrilles in the afternoon. Judges for the day were Cheryl Cassista and Claire
Reeves, with scribing help from Alison Wells and Margie Johnson. Carollyn Crewe was our announcer-extraordinaire for the second year in a row, and the scoring was handled by 'math wiz' Margo Hudson. A delightful
day was had by all, with spectators being treated to two quadrilles, a lovely pas-de-deux, several creative kurs and
some very cute costumes for the Costume Kur class.
The Dressage-Is-Fun Show offers Pony Clubbers the opportunity to come to a dressage show in a low-stress, fun
atmosphere. It was wonderful to see so many competitors who had never been to a dressage show before, along with
many familiar faces from last year's show. Believe it or not, plans are already underway for next year, when it is
hoped to add a second Dressage-Is-Fun Show in the Annapolis Valley area.
Thanks to all the Pony Clubbers who took part, and to all parents and volunteers who worked very hard to make the
day run smoothly. An especially big thank you goes to Carollyn Crewe and Margie Johnson. Without their help, the
show would not have been possible!
