As a result of the COVID-19 protocols and growing concern over travel, public gatherings and social distancing to limit the spread and impact of this virus, the Management Committee, in consultation with the greater Board of Directors of the Canadian Pony Club, has made the unanimous decision to delay the in-person portion of its Annual AGM and board meetings originally slated for Calgary, April 3-5. Alternative timings and methods of holding the legally required AGM within the time prescribed in the Bylaws are currently being explored and will be shared appropriately.
A dedicated committee of organizational representatives including members of the Management Committee, Risk Management Committee, Active Member Youth Director, Webmaster, National Administrator, National Past Chair and others as needed has been established to monitor developing news and information and propose action as it relates to Canadian Pony Club. As always, although the day to day running of the organization is foremost in our sights, the health and welfare of our members, volunteers and supporters remain our primary focus in the face of this new and rapidly changing landscape created by the COVID-19 situation. We continue to encourage all of our people to err on the side of safety in their decision-making, to learn and follow the guidelines put forth by their own provincial government and health authorities, and to exercise extreme personal diligence when it comes to hand washing, sanitizing and social interaction. We are family and you matter to us.
The health authorities for each province are issuing guidelines based on the current circumstances in their provinces and the availability of information on rate and risk of infection. CPC encourages its members to review these provincial releases as part of their personal education effort surrounding this virus, and to respond appropriately when considering the activities they have planned.
As the situation continues to develop, CPC will update its statements and recommendations to provide the safest possible environment and practices for its members and volunteers. We thank you for your understanding and diligence in taking steps to limit the spread of the virus and protect yourselves and our members, and we rely on your acceptance and compliance with the measures set forth to assure the quickest possible return to regular operations.
