Disciplines

There are several different disciplines in pony club. Depending on the branch you are a member of these will get more or less emphasis.

The basic mounted disciplines in Pony Club are Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. These disciplines form the building blocks for eventing and the Rallies that are organized by the Alberta South Region.

Another very important part of pony club is learning how to take care of your horse: stable management.
This is an unmounted part of Pony Club. It is possible to compete in this aspect of Pony Club as well. Every year the Alberta South Region organizes a Quiz in which members can demonstrate what they know about horses, horse care and tack.
Stable management is also a part of the Rally that the Alberta South Region hosts every year.

Besides these disciplines, there is a number of other activities Pony Clubs can be involved in. For example the Mounted or Prince Phillip games, Tetrathlon, Polocrosse and Vaulting.
A lot of our members are also active in disciplines such as hunter, driving, or even Western riding events.
